GenA is a service to help Alberta employers tap the next generation of working Albertans: youth aged 18-30.

Alberta employers can access the skills, energy and enthusiasm of younger workers by hiring through the GenA service. You get new employees with fresh perspectives, receptive to training and eager to make a difference.

GenA also works with employers on how to attract, recruit and retain youth into their workforce.

All GenA program services are available at no cost to employers.

A proven employer resource
GenA is offered by Prospect Human Services – an innovative not-for-profit with years of experience helping employers find and retain the best workforce.

Prospect consults with employers and industry groups in the areas of employee attraction, recruitment and retention. We have been particularly successful in tapping into new populations who possess the skills employers need, but remain under-represented in the workforce.

Through GenA, we can help you recruit skilled youth into your workforce, understand how to effectively retain them, and how to provide effective mentorship and growth opportunities.

Company Connectors – like your own private job fair
Our Company Connector events directly connect your company to a pool of skilled candidates interested in working for you. You get to profile your organization to pre-qualified youth prospects.

You have the opportunity to engage in a dialogue about the types of careers you offer, your workplace culture and what you look for when assessing a good employee fit.

Company Connector events can be used to pre-screen potential candidates and set up interviews. It’s a targeted, efficient way to hire. Some employers have even hired candidates on the spot.

Targeted youth employment strategies
A specific Youth Employment Strategy will help your organization build capacity for hiring youth. You’ll get a tailored assessment of your capacity to attract and retain this demographic. Successes and gaps in human resource practices are identified. Corporate culture and managerial capacity are assessed, and recommendations made.

Our GenA staff can also assist you with the implementation and evaluation. The strategy considers current labour market and labour force projections and your unique hiring needs.
